The Importance of Aluminum in Industry

2025-03-26

1. Aerospace field

(1). Reducing the weight of aircraft. Aluminum alloy is one of the main materials for aircraft body structure. Due to the low density of aluminum, using aluminum alloy to manufacture aircraft components can significantly reduce the weight of the aircraft. For example, a large passenger aircraft using a large amount of aluminum alloy materials to manufacture structural components such as the fuselage and wings can significantly reduce the weight of the aircraft, thereby reducing fuel consumption and improving flight efficiency and range.

Reducing the weight of spacecraft during launch is crucial for lowering launch costs. Many spacecraft structures and components are made of aluminum or aluminum alloys, such as the main structure of satellites and certain components of rocket engines.

(2) High strength and high toughness structural components

Some special types of aluminum alloys have high strength and toughness after heat treatment and strengthening treatment. These high-performance aluminum alloys can be used to manufacture key load-bearing components such as aircraft landing gear, beams, and joints, ensuring the safety and reliability of the structure under immense stress.

In the aerospace field, high-strength aluminum products are used to manufacture support structures for spacecraft, solar panel frames, etc., ensuring normal operation in complex space environments.

2. Transportation industry

(1) Automobile manufacturing

Lightweight advantage: Aluminum products are widely used in automobile manufacturing and can effectively reduce the weight of cars. For example, components such as engine blocks, gearbox housings, and suspension systems made of aluminum alloy can reduce the overall weight of a car, thereby lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. According to statistics, for every 10% reduction in weight of a car, fuel consumption can be reduced by 6-8%.

(2) Good thermal conductivity: Aluminum has good thermal conductivity, which is beneficial for the heat dissipation of key components such as automotive engines. If aluminum alloy materials are commonly used in car radiators, their efficient heat dissipation performance can ensure that the engine operates at normal temperatures, improving the efficiency and service life of the engine.

(3) Corrosion resistance: Aluminum and its alloys form a dense oxide film on the surface, which has good corrosion resistance and is suitable for components such as automotive chassis and wheels that are prone to corrosion, improving the durability of automobiles.

(4) Rail Transit

Aluminum materials are widely used in the manufacturing of car bodies, carriage floors, doors and windows, and other components in high-speed trains and urban rail transit vehicles. Aluminum body is not only lightweight, but also has good sealing and corrosion resistance, which can improve the running speed and safety of trains while reducing energy consumption.

Aluminum products are also used to manufacture brake system components, electrical equipment casings, etc. for rail vehicles, utilizing their good conductivity, thermal conductivity, and processing performance to meet the special requirements of these components.
